Our Story
Founded on a Simple But Urgent Conviction
Across the developing world and beyond, we saw institutions making high-stakes decisions without clear answers to critical questions: Did the intervention truly work? What was the cost per outcome achieved? Was there a higher-impact alternative for the same investment?
Too often, the impact was uncertain and the efficiency unknown. Well-intentioned programmes absorbed significant resources without rigorous testing, without clear cost-effectiveness comparisons, and without a framework for prioritising the highest-return solutions.
Kernel was created to bridge this gap. We brought together economists, impact evaluation specialists, behavioural scientists, and policy analysts united by a single obsession: helping institutions allocate resources where they generate the greatest measurable return.

The Name
Why Kernel?
Our name carries two meanings. In econometrics, a kernel is the mathematical core, the weighting function that determines what matters, how much influence each data point carries, and how signal is separated from noise. It is precise. It is purposeful. It does not guess.
